installing xp on new build

i was going through the installation of xp on my new build and an error message appeared and stopped the instal. it said that session 3 initialization failed and shut down to prevent damage. is this because i did not do the fdisk?(its a new hd) i read several guides and was not sure where i needed to enter this command.

You do not need to FDISK when you install Windows XP. During the installation process, you will have a chance to partition. The install CD takes care of everything for you.

Could you post the specs of your build?

What brand power supply? Have you tried the install with just one of the sticks of RAM?

Did you try the one stick trick with both of them? If the ram is bad you had a 50/50 chance of pulling the good one and leaving the possibly bad one in the pc, also try different slots, the ram may be good and the ram slot on the motherboard may be the culprit....
