Dirty Volume
Upon bootup sometimes on my computer I think has happened about two or three times now. Ill go to boot my computer and it will not load windows. I get this blue windows xp screen with somethings on it the first line says that the volume is dirty. How do I take care of this? do I need to defrag or something?

Open a command prompt and type "chkdsk /r /x" without the quotes. You will get a message that the volume is currently in use and whether you would like to schedule a scan for the next report. Press y. Then reboot.

Youre thinking Defragment. But your OS is recommending a Scan for Error on the HD.
