c prompt

if i type in exactly the following(exactly as in after the " ") after the C:\> "windows\system32" should it return something.....cos it dont it says the command is not recongnixed .....also when i type DIR after the c prompt it says an error occurred during directory enumeration......does this sound like bad, like really bad, like ive lost my hard drive ?

Typing in a directory is not a command, so you'll an error. If you are trying to change to that directory, type in "cd" (for change directory), a space, then the directory address; "windows\system32" in your example. Note, you need to be in a higher directory to go there, which would be the root directory in this case.

Are you using a DOS floppy startup disk to access an NTFS drive?
