Should I update my computer with Window Updates when I'm asked to do it? I have WIN XP Home.

Of course you should, those updates keep hackers out of your system, and are crucial.

I think it's a good idea. But if you are worried in some way, you can always go through Internet Explorer and use windows update that way. Going that route, you will be able to chose exactly what you are installing as an update.

Should you? Yes, but only if you DON'T have dial up. Dial up takes a year and a half to d/l all the updates. Get them from a computer that has broadband and transfer them via disk to ur machine.

I always set the systems I service to notify the user when updates are available. Dowload and install at their convenience. I do all Critical Updates but I prefer to be selective on the Recommended ones. You can use Personalize Windows Update at the MS site to unselect the Recommended items you chose not to install and prevent them from being suggested every time.

My way.
Critical updates - Yes. Service packs - Yes. Recommended updates - Only if they apply to my PC and the things I do. Driver updates - No (If I feel the need for a new driver I use the manufacturer). Chas
