"Image Transfer" Error at Startup

My friends comp gets the following message at startup occassionally:

Quote:
Image Transfer - Failed to initialize application. Restart your computer and try again.
When I click OK, it allows you to continue on in XP. Can't seem to see the ill effects. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Could be something loading in the system tray. What has he got loading down there?

Not a ton that I recall. ZA, eTrust AV, maybe Messenger is in there. Is unchecking Start-up processes one at a time the way this will have to be figured out?

Do you use a scanner and maybe had a problem with it the last time you used it?

It there a digital camera attached to the computer?

He's not sure just when it started up. It takes place seemingly randomly at different start-ups. He does have a digital cam on a firewire, but it's not connected at start-up usually. Maybe the digital cam software has something set to run at start-up in the System Config?

What software is he using?

Check to see if the camera drivers in the device manager have a warning on them or not.
