sound not working!!!
----THEN-------
hey for my pavillion a350n, the sound doesnt work. first, like a week ago, whenever i logged on my username and i tried running media player, it gave me an error: The audio codec identified by the format tag 55 is required to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click Web Help. there are two buttons, Ok, and Web Help. someone helped me find the info on how 2 fix this from the ms site. i followed the instructions on the site, and it still didnt work. this is only on my username. windows media player worked fine on the other 2 usernames.... but on my username before, i couldnt run WIndows media player but could run musicmatch jukebox and anything else. -------NOW------ sound doesnt work at ALL for any program....on any username. when i go to add hardware, there is a "microsoft Kernel audio mixer" with a yellow "!" by it. i click properties for it and it says the drivers are corrupt or the system is low on resources. any ideas? edit: here are my specs for THAT system(its not the one in my sig) http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...name=c00041542

What do you see in Device Manager? Any yellow or red markers?
Just an observation. Nothing against your system, but I have to laugh whenever I see the store bought systems that have a P4, 800fsb, HT cpu and then the manufacturer uses PC2700 memory instead of PC3200. Anything to save a buck or use up old inventory.

hehe...yeah...BTW the hp comp isnt the one in my sig.
lol...that pc2700 ram is running at 400mhz stable, so eh. who cares. there is a yellow marker(!) next to "microsoft kernal audio mixer" and it says the drivers are corrupted or there are not sufficient resources. when i try to update the drivers it says you have the most current version. but, then i clicked uninstall device, and its gone now. i wanna try to reinstall it now. |
