New XP installations, two questions

Hi all, just reinstalled XP and can't get it working likeI used to...

1) When I press CTRL-ALT-DEL I want the option of locking the computer to be password protected. Currently I only get the task manager. How can I set this up please?

2) I used to have shortcuts in the taskbar, next to the start button, which you only had to press once to activate. You could add them using drag and drop. Now I can't seem to get them there, it won't let me drag shortcuts into that area.

Thanks for any help.

You can accomplish the same by pressing the Winkey+L (winkey=the start button on your keyboard)

Do you mean the quicklaunch bar? What does it say when you try to drag the shortcuts on it? Right click on the task bar and uncheck lock task bar. Now see if you can drag shortcuts onto it. You might need to resize the quicklaunch bar to accomplish it.

I'd really like the other screen "This workstation is locked..." if it's possible.

Wherever I try and drag the shortcut, I get the "no entry" sign, and it is unlocked.

Yes it is - go to Control Panel > User Accounts > Change the way users log on or off > UNcheck fast user switching. That will give you the traditional locked message.

Well first things first, do you have a toolbar active? You cannot drag items onto the task bar, you have to drag onto a toolbar; right click on the task bar and go to TOOLBARS > Quicklaunch. Now you should see some of the default icons, right? You can now drag shortcuts to that area.
