A 'Run As' popup box asking permission

Hi From Texas!

I have started getting pop ups with "RUN AS" in the blue menu bar. One of the first things that the box dose , is to ask " Which user do you want to start(use) this program ?. It already has me checked , but, there are two bars opened (blank)for ---a user name & pass word -- other then myself.----this is a nuisance to me. It just started happening a few days ago. Note : I have been getting many up-date notices here lately asking an OK to install a new up date. There is a setting somewhere that I need to go and get rid of this box popping up.----------------------------Don

P.S.: I will be back at the computer 1:30 AM (share computer time)

Howdy neighbor.

The popup you're talking about is called Fast User Switching. Not sure what you're doing to make it come up. Maybe your profile isn't set to admin and you need admin rights to do what it is you're doing at the time.

Greetings Tonight , ( just now getting back)

Thanks for your reply. I am amazed that the post only brought 1 reply. There are a couple of things. Assume you are right. Where do I go to turn it off. Walk me through it. --Never had this problem for 3 years till now. Gosh , when I go to log off to shut down, that box pops up and I have to get it out of the way to shutdown. When I went to do a system restore , it popped up.--O-- I am trying to remember , it had a check box that said something like this . " check this box for virus protection, but , other programs could have trouble operating "-------I should have written down exactly how that was phrased. I can if needed for replies. This thing is just a nuisance, but very much workable. I have so much to do on the computer and will have to find the time on Tuesday to work on this problem unless there is a quick resolution.--------------------------Thanks----------Don

time: / Monday night/ Tuesday morning---3:00 AM central

. . . you might want to run your antispyware tool just to make sure it's not an unwanted visitor on the system playing pranks. You have a firewall, antivirus, antispyware active? And you have your Windows Security Updates current?

. . . and if you can be fairly sure the update messages are from Windows automatic update service, those can be invaluable lately - some pretty unpleasant exploits popped up last month & caused a lot of grief [that can be avoided by the Windows Update patches]
