Try running adaware and spybot to check for resource hogging spyware.

You formatted and reinstalled Windows and it's still running slow? Did it run slow right after you reinstalled Windows or after you went on the internet?

Do you have a firewall? If you don't, you should use one.

Are you hooked directly up to the cable or DSL modem, or are you behind a router?

Are you running any spyware blockers like SpywareBlaster?

With a broadband internet connection you really need a firewall to help keep the nasties from getting on your computer. Get Kerio and install it on your computer.

You should also learn more about spyware and other internet nasties by checking out some security web sites like Spyware Info, Spychecker and DoxDesk
