Not able to download
First I still haven't solved the problem on why it doesn't load up new windows. Give me some tips on how to fix that.
Now I went to windowsupdate.com and maybe they have somethin there to fix this, but when I found i can download two critical packs I try but it doesn't download. It just has the window gettin ready to install but it doesn't. When hit cancel the "explorer" error comes up and erases my background and removes all the sites I was visiting. How can I fix this? I have gone to internet options > tools > and all that nothing wrong there I can see. |

Here's the link: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu.../cd/order.mspx
It takes a couple of weeks to arrive. While you wait, you can ask around & see if one of your friends or family might have a copy to lend to you. It is a redistributable tool, which can be used on more than just one computer. ... are you sure that it's only in Windows Update that you can't download? [there's that setting in Internet Options that can disallow downloads] . . . And - what is the exact wording of the explorer error that you see? Just to make sure of where things are going wrong: is it that you can't download, or is it that after the download, things don't progress to installing properly? To rule out any spyware or viruses that your current scanners might have missed, see if anything else comes up with an online scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com Try both AdAware and Spybot for the spyware scans. The Security Update CD would probably get things going again, since you'd likely get a fresh copy of IE, the MS Virtual Machine, and the Windows Update controls. . . . Gary |

Sorry, I should've re-read the thread first... I was thinking that the link was in there.
Thanks for bailing me out, GaryRouth

I wasn't able to order the cd, it froze on the part when it says "processing order" or something around there.
The error I'm getting says something like "The program is an illegal operation and will be shut down" It's something like that. |

Yep, I didn't run any firewall or any antivirus programs. No dice.

It didn't make any difference for me either.
I can't remember is this is in the above link, but one thing that helpe was I had to update Windows Messenger, even though I don't use it.
