viruses in xp
wow, i gotta say. some viruses are IMPOSSIBLE to remove in xp. this particular one took me 5 new installations of XP but i finally got rid of it. MUAHAHA. does anyone know how to properly delete an xp installation without deleting the whole partition?

You should probably do a zero fill on the entire drive. It sounds like the virus may have been lodged in the boot sector of the drive. Either that, or you kept getting the virus from the same place after you connected to the internet.

nope i rechecked the whole disk for viruses and it came up wtih none. i got rid of it, it seems that it was in the system restore. but i was wondering if i could just properly delete an installation?

I'm not sure what you mean by "properly delete".
Formatting the partition or zero filling the whole drive erases active data from the drive. |

yeah, but i dont want that. i have four installations of win xp whcih are useless because i installed them to get rid of a virus. now, i want to delete THOSE 4 installations and keep the original installation i had, so i dont lose any data, just delete the xp installations. how do i do that?

Wait, so you have created 4 seperate partitions and have an installation of XP on each one?
Or have you just reinstalled overtop of what you had? |

no, i installed xp 4 times by installing in C drive in a different folder every time, so its 5 xps on one partition basically.
