Another delay for XP SP2

Quote:
Microsoft has again delayed a long-awaited update to Windows XP, citing quality concerns. The company had planned to wrap up development this week on Windows XP Service Pack 2, but a Microsoft representative said late Wednesday that the software giant had decided that more work was needed on the update before if could be released to manufacturing.

Microsoft has been forced to push back the update's release on several occasions, most recently moving the release date from July to August. Windows XP Service Pack 2, or SP2, was originally set for release in June. However, Microsoft still expects to release the update this month, the representative said.

Stop the presses! M$ actually delayed something because of quality concerns! Since when has that mattered?

I really hope the continuous delays for SP2 release have a positive affect on the quality.

Cool

With their concerns about quality I won't be in any hurry to install SP2. I believe I will wait a month or so and let others find the bugs.

The beta version of it said I had no antivirus, and broke my internet in IE (no big problem, although Windows Update), so I hope the release is better. What I did notice is that it ran faster than SP1, less bloat / better page file management maybe?

I'm running XP SP2 RC2 v2162. It installed smoothly and runs great. I would recommend that any one going to install SP2, have a "ghost" of their SP1. It may take a couple of tries.

When the official version comes out, I'm going ghost back to SP1 and install the official version.
