USB modem on XP?

I am thinking of upgrading my ME machine to Windows XP Home SP1a. Currently, I am using a USB modem to acess DSL internet with my ISP. I think they have a different modem for XP though. So my question is, will I need to change modems to run the internet on XP? Or, even with the USB modem, will my web performance suffer?

Thanks in advance, JTH

Using USB for networking is something I like to avoid. Ethernet is much easier and not as finicky. If your PC doesn't have an Ethernet jack, a PCI Ethernet card is so cheap that it is worth it to make the switch.
