After I finish my first build I still cannot decide on which OS to use, I really am not impressed with Win XP, would the old reliable Win 2000 be the best bet for gaming and general surfing?

if you are not impressed with xp, and you like 2000, then yea, go with it. xp is built on 2000 technology, so it will be a good choice. i don't do any gaming, but i would imagine that it would run the same on either OS - definitely for surfing tho. you may want to wait for more input on the gaming side

i have xp and i love it. i guess it all depends on what you like. if 2000 is going to do what you need then go with it. 2000 is a great os, and i don't think you will have any regrets. if you want, you can check the sys requirements for the games you want to play and see if any require xp. i don't game enough to know

2000 and XP are pretty much the same source nowadays. All the windows 2000 updates morphed it into XP. No more true dos.... BUT! Some hardware issues still occur with xp, which makes me shy away from it. Also because it's annoying "Report error" messages.
I like 2000 ^_^. |

yea, if its just the gui, you can go back to the classic style. also, teenpcknowit, you can turn off the error reporting service, by right-clicking on my computer -> properties -> Advanced -> Error Reporting. Check Disable error reporting. makes things much nicer
