Everything was going along great -- surfing the web, Windows XP home doing fine, now my system locks up almost everytime and requires a hard reboot (keyboard ctrl alt del doesn't work).
How can I check the temp on my cpu? Also, I had Norton Internet Security but then i forgot my administrator password and tried to uninstall it -- but it didn't uninstall all the way. Now I have McAfee Antivirus on it. I tried to reinstall Windows XP and it seems to reinstall, but I still have this freezing system. Any help would be appreciated! |

It might be a conflict between McAfee and Norton. Two different anti virus programs on one computer can be the cause of lots of trouble. Disable McAfee and see if that stops your problem. If this stops your shutdown problem then my guess as to the cause of your trouble was probably correct and you should make sure you fully uninstall Norton before reactivating McAfee. If disabling McAfee does NOT solve your problem, then you should worry about cleaning your computer of spyware and viruses.
Post back and let us know how things are going. |
