xp installer restarts unexpectedly

I've just built a new machine, when I boot off the XP pro cd it loads all of its drivers fine including the 3rd party SATA Raid controller. It gets to the screen where it asks me if I want to recover or do a new install. I press enter to do the new install and the computer immediately turns off.

I've gone through my BIOS settings multiple times and everythings looks fine. My only guess is a hardware issue. Any ideas?

You're saying it turns off. Do you really mean that the psu shuts down out of itself, or are you talking about a reboot ? If it's a reboot, you could check your memory with memtest86+.

It was totally turning off, no shutdown, no reboot, just off. However I think it's my keyboard. Before I was using the carriage return, but i tried the "enter" key on the num pad and it didnt turn off. problem solved ... kinda

but i did run into a quirk with my mobo. you can disable the SATA ROM but leave the SATA ability enabled. Which sounded like what i wanted to do because the ROM controlls the SATA RAID, and I only have one HDD. But when you disable the ROM its like the BIOS just forgot about my drive until i got into the xp installer. even after the installer reboot it still didnt see it. So now my 160GB HDD in a RAID 0 all on its lonesome.
