Try start, shutdown, restart in MSDos mode.

I'm on XP, but if you run MSCONFIG, Advanced Tab (I think), you should find an option to Select/Unselect GUI.
UNselect this, and it should boot straight to DOS. Entering WIN will start Windows. |

Have you tried just typing c: and hitting Enter?

Is Superscribe a big program or will it fit on a floppy disk? If it's small, maybe you can run it from the floppy.
I'm puzzled as to why you can't change drives in DOS. How did you make that boot disk? Cricket

Are you using a home built computer or a store bought name brand one?
Have you tried running the program from a floppy? Cricket

At the A:\ prompt, what exactly are you typing?
Just C: followed by the Enter key should get you to C: |

this one. If you ARE using a Windows 98 or later bootdisk, you can ignore my ramblings but I suspect you got one of the DOS ones. The Windows 98/Me bootdisks are in fact just DOS bootdisks, your program should run fine with them. |

Restarting the computer in MS-Dos mode *is* true DOS - why won't that work?

A shutdown > restart in DOS is not quite real DOS, only because there is still a small piece of Windows code that is still active. Otherwise an EXIT would not return you to Windows.
