Creating a WinXP system disk

I purchased WinXP OEM for my new build that I'll hopefully start tomorrow. It came in the mail the other day, in a huge FedEx box for one cd. Pretty funny. Anyway, it didn't come with a system disk. That was kind of disappointing, since now I don't know what to do. Help?

You don't need a system disk.
Build your pc, set to boot from cd-rom in the BIOS, put your XP disk in the cd-rom and follow the instructions.
It will format and partition your HDD and then load the O/S.

Cool! Thank you very much! But it is a good idea to have a system disk, just in case I have to boot from floppy, right? That's something that I can do later on. Thanks!

Cool

You don't need a system disk. XP isn't DOS based. You only need the CD. Protect it. Made a copy of it and put in safe place. Write your 25 digit key down and store in several locations. Do not loose that key.

After what I've gone through with a customer the last few days, Confused's suggestion is one of the best for everybody to follow.

And while you're at it I recommend that you slipstream SP2. . then you're up-to-date.

Yes, Yes, slipstreaming and doing a fresh install of the slipstream could save you about 1.5 GB. First, you will have no $$Uninstall files or Service Pack files. Each is about 500 MB. Also, you can dump the initial System Restore, which is about 500 MB!

I turn off system restore as soon as XP install finishes.
I wonder why SP2 doesn't ask whether or not to backup files. I remember SP1a prompted the user to backup/archive files before the install. With SP2 it just does it even though I have no intention of removing SP2.
