This pretty much covers it. If you can afford the extra $30 go for the pro.

If you are a single user on a computer I see nothing in XP Pro that can't be done on XP home.
In my case I'd like to be able to give some users more leeway than others but I'm using XP HOme and that option isn't available to me |

Depends on what you want to use the OS for. If you want to save some money, go with HOME, if you want better security and added features, go with the PRO version. Either way, it's still based on the NT Kernal

I've worked on systems running both pro and home edition and I prefer pro. If for no other reason, the added security. And for some reason it just seems to run smoother than home. Most of the user-related problems I have encountered (other than malware issues) always seem to be on those systems running home.

Greetings
I just want to put my 2 cents in. I wished I had gotten the PRO first. I do love Home . I am not bothered though that I didn't. When XP was released for sale , I was at the store the very first day to buy it.---Anway, the purpose of my reply : Buy the FULL version of PRO. I bought the full version of Home and I never have regretted it. I look at it this way , Man , you are talking about buying something for your computer, it will be the most important part !. Why not spend the money and get best version ?. What does money mean when it does come to the most important part of your computer ?Ok then , can you see yourself in, say, about a year, saying- " I am sorry I bought the FULL version and didn't buy the upgrade ". You have to plan down the road of horrors on your computer in the future. If the worst of things happen , then you can feel CONFIDENT that you have the full version of PRO-----O--,Well- it is your call.---------------------Donald |

I agree on the reason for not getting the upgrade version. But full version from a retail store is the retail verion? I would suggest OEM, whether Home or Pro. Same OS and much money to be saved.
