Hello and welcome to PC Mech.

What kind of RAM does the PC have ? Windows XP is very picky with RAM, so I think it's RAM related.
You can use Memtest86 to check the RAM.

You checked the RAM. . in 10 minutes ? As far as I remember a RAM check takes longer than that. . . so you ran memtest and it doesn't give you any errors ?

What brand is the RAM anyway ?

You're trying to install XP on a system with 128MB of RAM? The very least I would run XP on is 256. The performance isn't going to be very good with that amount of RAM.

I ran XP with 128 of ram and a 800mhz Duron, it took about 2:30 to boot fully, although I could have disabled more programs I was only running 26 processes, added 256 (soon to be 512mb) and a Athlon XP 2500+, it now takes just over 40 seconds to boot. My advice: windows XP should not allowed to be ran on that little ram, it is very slow.

Thanx for all the help troops, managed to get it loaded aventually, is running fairly slow so a guess a RAM upgrade is required.

cheers
