It won't boot...

I used a program called "Rambooster" and "Ace Utilities" to clean up my computer and help it work better. Everything was perfect..then I shut it off and turned it back on. It won't boot...it won't even go to the screen to select a user's name. It will go to a wallpaper, show the mouse (unmovable) for a second, and then restart. It doesn't give me an option to go into safe mode....I don't know what to do...I don't have the CD to boot from...please help me...this is very serious...(I'm on an old laptop right now)

I'm not familiar with those programs or what they do, but to get to Safe Mode try tapping the F8 key as the system shows the splash screen and keep tapping until in shows the dos type screen with boot options or until you hear a beep whenever you tap the F8 key. If you are using XP do a restore to a point before the problem started.
