trying to slipstream, but can't even extract
I've downloaded sp1a and sp2 for xp onto a 98se machine. When I try to extract the files by double clicking on the .exe downloaded file, in both cases I get an error that has something to do with ntdll.dll. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks. |

The problem is 98se is not a NT kernall OS, the following taken from http://www.liutilities.com/products/...library/ntdll/
DLL File: ntdll or ntdll.dll DLL Name: NT Layer DLL Description: File that contains NT system functions. Part Of: Windows NT System DLL: Yes Common Errors: File Not Found, Missing File, Exception Errors you are trying to run the exe on a system that does not support it. Sounds like the files are self extracting exe's and so are running not just unzipping

You don't even need to extract the files manually. Just use the /integrate switch, that'll extract and integrate in a single go.
You use it like this: xpsp2.exe /integrate:C:\WinXPCD Of course you have to substitute "xpsp2.exe" with the actual name of your SP2 file, and "C:\WinXPCD" with the actual path where you stored the contents of the XP CD. And you don't need SP1 because SP2 also contains SP1 as well, so just slipstream SP2 to your WinXP CD and you're all set. RJ
