It has been delayed until the 25th for XP Pro users. They are still trying to fix problems. i would hold off until it is fixed.

That SP2 is for both Home and Pro. I think you mean the availability through Windows Update, right ?

Yes it's the final version of SP2. You find it on the M$ website. Just to to www.microsoft.com, on the right under "popular searches" Service Pack 2, and then Download details: Windows XP service pack 2 for IT Professionals and Developers (despite that statement, it's really for everyone. . it's the final SP2).

Yep, that's the availability through Windows Update only. You can still download the entire SP2, it works for both Home and Pro.

"Why there does it say to not install this pack if your installing it on a single computer because a smaller file will be avialable soon."

-- Why would other people using one computer want anything different than the busnisses?

Because if you want to install it on more than one computer, you need a single file that you can download and run for each machine, instead of letting WindowsUpdate download only the individual parts of SP2 that it needs. that's why the file is so big, because it needs ALL patches, since the different computers can need different patches (some may need a few, some may need them all etc). Microsoft would prefer that you let WindowsUpdate handle things, since you probably only need about 70Mb if you have Windows XP Home and already have SP1 + all patches, it saves them bandwidth This is also the reason why WindowsUpdate doesn't have it yet, they want to enable it in groups so their servers don't get swamped.

See my comment in this thread:
http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=107037

So basically, it's not something really different. . only .. customized. But I'd download the entire package. Especially if you have broadband there is IMHO no sense in obtaining it via Windows Update.
