enum trick dead MB
I am installing a new MB and processor on a computer with a dead MB. I would like to save the stuff on the HD. The problem is I did not get a chance to clear the enun key before it went dead. Is there a way to put this HD in another machine to clear the enum key? The OS on the machine is Windows 98. This machine is a personal build. Upgrading to Barton 2500 and an Asus MB.

You can boot into Safe Mode and then do the ENUM trick from there.

Boot up in safe mode with the new motherboard, then proceed to follow through the the ENUM trick. After that, boot up normally and install your new drivers.

when you boot into safe mode windows loads only default device drivers, so you won't have to worry about it being a different mobo. just boot into safe mode, remove the enum key, and then boot again normally.
