Cleaning Up My Illegal XP upgrade

I am doing my penance! Sorry for the Noob Boob question... I used a pirated copy of XP to upgrade my Windows 98SE. I am cleaning up. I purchased a legal copy of the upgrade. I tried to change my product code to the upgraded one. This didn't work. Can I "reinstall" the legitimate copy of the upgrade over the old one? What is the best way to proceed?

You can sleep better now that you are going legal!

Pirated software hurts everybody....higher prices to make up for the lost revenue. I am glad you made the right decision.

I did it!

I simply reloaded the legal upgrade. It went through the entire loading of the XP upgrade with no problems. I was concerned there would be problems. There were none.
