XP installation won't detect HDD

while trying to install windows XP i get an error message saying that the installation process does not detect the HD. cables are definitely where they need to be and bios detects it just fine. any thoughts out there???

An extension to what kevinf said, the sata drivers are found on the motherboard cd, and to work must be put onto a floppy disk. Just do what kevinf said.

What are the files called? *If* there is something called makedisk.exe, or similar, it might put the files on a floppy for you. Overwise, yes, just copy them.
