man-o-man , I Lost Wordpad
Hi From A Weird Cool August Month in Texas !
I just can find WordPad . I do have notepad but just don't like as much as word. The problem has been around for over 3 months. I used ' Search Companion '. I've opened up ' My Computer ' and looked on its files. I've gone to 'Start " folders. All software folders. Is there any way I can get it back. I have even gone to " Last Known Good Configuration ". Maybe there is a command to use in ' Run ' , or , a MOS-DOS command.----------------------------Don |

Hi statica !
Since I am a surfer of the net and use it to get information for me and for others ,my weak point is files and folders in Windows, you know ,.exe .dll ....etc.I don't know how to search for a .DLL. I just havn't been interested in all that to learn. About the only time I get into that stuff is when people send me there. I am un-smart enough to use Search Companion. Is all I do is type in a word and go. What I am asking is where do I copy and paste that /Windows/ bla--bla--bla stuff you sent in your post at ?------Don |

Click on Start and go to RUN
Type in Wordpad.exe and click OK. If that works, Right Click on your Desktop GO to NEW->ShortCut->Type in WORDPAD.exe |

Hi ! EzyStv !
I did what you said. I went to ' START ' > 'RUN ' and typed in WORDPAD.exe. A popped up rectangle box with a red circle and a white X said there was nothing like that there. Hold on , I then went back to ' Search Companion ' and typed in EXACTLY what you said to type in WORDPAD.exe on my E: drive where XP is that I use all the time. As I said in my post , I had already used 'Search Companion ' using WordPad with no results. Anyway , I had no results with WORDPAD.exe. I thought for a while and said to my self "why not try the C: drive ". The C: drive has my Dads Windows ME on it. Dad wanted to stay with ME rather then going on and using XP. Dad is old and set in his ways and computers is really not his stuff although he trades stocks on ME and he owns the computer. He just didn't want to learn more on computers then how to trade stocks with Ameritrade. ------Anyway , I searched his Windows ME C: drive. Well , up popped WordPad. I went ahead and stopped the search. I thought that is all I have to do was to get WordPad over to my E: drive back to my XP.?. ----- Hummmm , a Floppy !. I have a few Floppies around , so I got one , put it in my A: drive on the computer. You guessed it , I copied WordPad to a floppy and then to my E: drive. Now, I have WordPad back ! !. Yea ! !------ I don't think I would have done it till I read your post that led me to this EzyStv . Think you VERY MUCH , you helped get WordPad back to me !---------------------------Don PS: I want to give statica thanks and credit to, for statica got me to thinking also. Both things helped me get back WordPad |

Good to hear Donald!
Just for future reference you needn't floppy a file when it's not leaving the computer. You can just select the file and then click the "copy to" button in the toolbar and selct E:\ (the drive with XP). |

Hi ! JTH !
Thanks for your reply and the tip. I just wanted to get WordPad nailed down to a Floppy. That way , if anything happens to WordPad , I have it on a Floppy ready to go.----Don ! |
