Question EMachine

I have been given a EMachine desktop that I'm going to fix up. I am going to format and do a clean install on the h.d. with win98se. My problem is that I don't have the drivers for this pc.Does anyone know where I might find these drivers using the serial # or something?

Have you checked the eMachine web site? I've downloaded from their site before.

Renner,
Alot will depend on the Model and age of that EMachine. Could you post it?
The older ones used Tri-gem Apollo mobos with everything built in and the BIOS left alot to be desired.

I recently noticed that a site which has old drivers for packard bell computers also has a lookup by model number for many emachine systems. just set up a user name then chose drivers. when that page opens there is a lookup for different brands of computers.
you would have to find a model number on the back of the emachine you have there.

Just make sure you have drivers for your modem/ethernet adapter first. Otherwise, you won't be able to do anything. I guess you'll have to put it onto a cd/floppy from another computer.

i am presuming you have another computer and the e machine will be a project you will be working on.
it is good to have the drivers first but i have had less that 100% success with programs like that windriversbackup download.
go to emachine website. they really do have most all the drivers for you for the model number of the machine or sometimes its name.
or go to that site i gave you a link for. did you take a look at that?
right now we have six replies but nothing from you. let us know how it is going, ok?

EMachine

I went to the emachine website and was able to get most of the drivers using the modle number. Everything is working good except the modem, wich I think is just shot. I can put a new one in without any trouble, I just wish all pc's had seperate components instead of everything built into the M.B.
Thanks for the help.

Former mod Reboot has a web site with lots of modem stuff. Might want to try it.

Renner,

Thats great! EMachines apparently have changed a few things over the last couple years.
Today, I needed to replace a PSU in a Emachine and in the past they were proprietary. A 300w Enlight did the job nicely.
