Need Downloading Error Help Please........
Hey gang hope everyone is doing great......
Started having a problem about a week ago downloading .exe files, I keep getting a active x error. So I thought it might of been my version of IE having a problem so I just tried updating at MS site; however I am getting the same error and can't even download that. I am running WIN98SE and IE 5. I have posted a text screen shot of the error below: ********************************************* Error Locating Object Handler There is no viewer available for the type of object you are trying to open. The following information is available about this object: Address of object: http://download.microsoft.com/downl...US/ie6setup.exe Content Type: application/x-msdownload Possible location of viewer:Microsoft ActiveX Gallery ************************************************* Do you want to go to this location to download a viewer for this type of object? When I go to active X link to download correction I am not sure what I need, please help. Thanks |

Hi spmiz - see if this link helps http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=180553
. . . that address in your message looks like the download link to IE6. You could download IE6 from Windows Update if you wish, but you shouldn't need to. If you're happy with how IE5 is performing, try the Registry edit described in the MSKB article in the link above, and you should be OK. Anytime that unusual activity centers around ActiveX controls, I also recommend running a complete system antivirus/antispyware scan. Just to be sure. . . . Gary |
