getting rid of the remants of 98SE
hi
i did an install of a win 2k on a system (an ibm thinkpad 600e) that already had win 98se o it. now i could have sworn i formated it to NTFS but i must have only converted it. because of this stupidity i now have lost a lot of space on the HD (witch isn't that large to begin with) and have an irritating bootup-menu. both of these serve to work with an os that could never run (since the HD is now NTFSand 98se can not handle that file-system) is there anny way to get rid of this boot-up menu??? i assume i can just delete the 98SE files? (i'm fairy sure i can but i thought if i'm posting, better ask that-one to) thanks |

Well, to disable the boot menu you just need to rightclick on "My Computer", select properties, go to the "advanced" tab, and click on the last of the "Settings" buttons, the one under "Start and Shutdown". There you can disable it.
But to remove the remnants of Win98. . . if you really only did an upgrade then I believe there is no extra Win98 folder anymore, and 2K has integrated itself into it. The only way I know of is to do a clean install. RJ
