Boom Arrgghh! Help!

Hey guys,

Whenever I start up my computer (XP Pro), after windows loads and Im at the select user screen, i get the error message:

"Unable to load service configuration object: CurtainsSysSvc.ServiceConfiguration"

Then when I log on to my user name and explorer isnt running, nor are any other processes from my user name (Lots from the SYSTEM though) Then only app that i can get to load is Task Manager by Ctrl+Alt+Delete

It just started doing this today...

How do I fix it?

Are you running any skinning programs?

Its the comcast security manager/popup blocker that is at issue here. See if you can get rid of it or try to reinstall it.

PS: A "skinning" program is an add on software that is used to alter the appearance of your programs, or environment like the way Windows looks etc. It doesnt sound like the issue here though.

This could be the issue - if you have certain kinds of spyware: http://www.winxptutor.com/wsaremove.htm
If it doesnt work, you could always do an in-place XP reinstall - you would have to put in the security updates from windowsupdate.com - your programs and settings will be unchanged

1st clue: CurtainsSysSvc.exe is part of Comcast list of "security" programs (that are in much need of updates); the clincher: you are using comcast

Cheers
