Free Security Scan--I passed ALL(stealth)

Hi Members !
I got this free security scan suggestion from a Computer Talk Show Host so I know it is a safe place to go. I ran my computer through it and showed P was in ' Stealth ' passing all tests. Is all I am running on my computer is 'Zone Alarm' (free-I would like to have the PRO verison but live off Social Security). I run AVG anti-virus (free verison). I do not have any Microsoft updates on my computer. ------ Don

HOLD ON-----Don

When I logged out from PCMECH , it tolled me that my cookies have been deleted. I guess that test deleted them (?). If you don't mind your cookies deleted, then proceed with the scan. I didn't know that before I took the test if indeed it did do this.----------Don

I have SP2 and no other firewall. When I first installed it I ran the tests on four different sites and passed all of them except ones testing outgoing traffic, which the SP2 firewall doesn't address. Also, I lost no cookies even though I used the Shields UP test.

I run that test from time to time but have never had my cookies deleted afterwards, and I also have sp2.Just curios how that happened to you.

Are you sure that the online test cleared the cookies for you?
and if it did it (again I highly doubt that the site did it - I've never noticed such behavior) makes you feel very safe??? I'd be terrified if I went to a site that was able to physically delete files from your hard drive by running a scan? What do you suppose the distinction between a text based cookie file and a random text file on your computer ... absolutely none.

I test every couple of weeks at ShieldsUp and I have never had a problem with cookies being deleted when I have left the site. I have SP1 installed on this machine.

I found it kind of funny that I failed due to the ident vulnerability in my linksys router. I flashed the upgrade firmware that closes that port and this test confirmed that it was closed, but not stealth.
So much for my A+.

Hi Guys (and Gals) !

You'r probably right about that scan not removing cookies if it didn't on yours. I may have over reacted. It was my fault ,I just didn't check it out completly .--------Don
