WinXP Startup Problem
A few friends of mine are having a problem with their computer. They've had a trojan on their computer for some time now, and probably plenty of other virsuses. Anyways, recently, their ibm laptop w/ winxp has started to freeze right after they sign into the account. All they see is their wallpaper. No mouse, no taskbar no icons...nothing. It works in safe mode. My guess is that its one of the many viruses that they have. I told them their best deal was to reformat and reinstall. Would you guys reccomend anything different?

If you can run the computer in safe mode, run the AV program, as well as Spybot and Adaware, in safe mode. If they need an AV, download AVG, and install it on the machine. If they cannot access the internet, download it on your PC, burn it to a disc and install it on the machine from the disc.
