Installing winXP
I am ready to wipe my desktop clean of win98se.Before I do I would like to know what I have to do to load the XPhome on here. Do I need a xp boot disk?

The XP CD is bootable, and can format the hard disk (no need to use fdisk and format, unless you want to dual boot between XP and 98), you just make sure that the CD drive is higher in the boot order than the hard drive, but in the CD and format, install and your done. It may be worth putting the XP blaster patch onto a CD, as well as some others, so you don't get infected by Blaster, as well as a firewall and antivirus.

So I don't need to wipe the win98se off here? - Nope, As whatsthisboxfor said, you will gt an option up front to nuke and pave if that is what you want.
Just make sure you have anything you might want later backed up off the drive/partition that you will be wiping....
