Today I decided to finally wipe out my HD. I used Crickets application that he told me to use: KillDisk. However, I did not remove the partitions with Delpart.
Now, when I try to boot up my computer it just has a BLACK/BLANK screen. I am trying to figure out how to install Windows XP Corp from the disc, but my computer wont start up??? Somebody please help soon!!! Thanks in advance, |

Are you getting any POST messages like the BIOS screen? If so you need to go into your BIOS and set your CD drive as your first boot device. Then boot up with the XP CD in the drive; proceed through with setup.

Power down your computer completely (you might need to hold your power off/on button for abt 4 seconds). Now start it up, do you see messages identifying basic hardware, like what hard drives you have, what video card you have ,.. your motherboard .. how much RAM you have?
[I am thrown off by the fact that you mentioned that you get a blank screen, it could be the case, but I just want to confirm if that really is the case? When you turn on the computer do you really get an absolutely black screen? If so there are deeper issues here than just being able to load XP] That is the POST (power on self test) screen. You must quickly press the DEL button (it's usually DEL) to enter the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) - at this screen, depending on your motherboard manufacturer (if you have a doubt, post back here with your motherboard mfger and model#) you should see a menu for Boot - from there you will need to make your CD drive your FIRST boot device. Make sure that you boot with the XP CD in the CD Drive. Some background to clarify what you are doing: usually what happens is that the hard drive is the first boot device - when your computer powers up, goes through the POST screen, it is instructed to look for an operating system from one of your drives; in a typical situation since XP is loaded on the hard drive the computer is instructed to look in the hard drive for the OS .. however since you will be installing XP for the "first" time you need to tell your computer to look in your CD drive first. |

All you have to do is hammer that delete button on the start up untill ur pc goes into blue bios. There i think under advancesettings u can change ur first boot dievice to CD-ROM save and exit bios, put in ur windows cd in then when it restarts it should advance to windows installation.

All that happens when I power on my computer is: there is a blue screen that says "HP Invent" since I have an HP. Then, NOTHING happens after that. It is JUST a completely black screen. No words, numbers, etc. Just a black screen.
I tried pressing delete and the F9 button, BUT STILL NOTHING. just a black screen! thanks
