problem with user profiles

Hi,

I'm trying to set user profiles on windows me. I've set 4 profiles with passwords and they work fine but I can't figure out how to install software so it can be available for all users. I installed some software on user "A" (for example) but it doesn't appear on users "B", "C" and "D".

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks.

Hi CoReTeK -

About half-way down the page of the Microsoft article about customizing WinMe is a guide to User Profiles. Not the greatest detail, but it does mention that when you create the profiles, you have the option for Start Menus to be shared or not.

From your post, I'm going to assume that you chose to have custom Start Menus for each Profile. In such cases, many programs will indeed require their setup be run under each profile. There's a good example from a page about installing MS Office & different User Profiles scenarios http://support.microsoft.com/default...NoWebContent=1

Hopefully someone with more WinMe experience than I have will have a way to install programs more easily - but what I've read so far seems to indicate that it's more of an "all-or-nothing" situation in WinMe.

For your current situation, to copy the current installed programs, and to allow future installations to be available to all profiles on your system, you'd delete the current Profiles, then re-create them with the "Include Start menu and Program groups in user settings" box checkmarked.

Profiles do consume more space, so I'm guessing your current disk setup has plenty.

I deleted all the profiles and created them again without selecting the start menu option and it has done the job.

Thanks Gary!!

Thanks for your welcome also... I doubt I'll be able to contribute much to the forum apart from posting my problems and questions though.
