98se network problems

in a win98se peer tp peer network ,the network share of hp 656c usb deskjet printer keeps on diconeecting ,and the users have to add the printer again. The sam is not the case in parallel port printers.

is there a option in win98se to maintain a persistent connection ,say if i share a network drive like one has in a windows nt network.

i think win98 unshares it everytime you unplug the USB cable or even when you unpower/shutoff the printer...does the printer have parralell, too?

There is one simple solution.First load hp 656c drivers. Then load hp 690 drivers. While loading hp 690c drivers, load at port lpt1.After this drivers are loaded,go to properties of 690c drivers and in ports select usb port..Also make this default. This should solve you lot of problems. This prob was prominent in systems havin intel 810 board using celeron or p3 processors. If prob is not solved,do check for viruses.
