I have been donated an old Dual PII Server with a SCSI RAID set.
My intention is to install either NT4.0, 2000 or 2003 Server onto it. When i boot from the NT Server CD ROM (or 2000 / 2003 Server CDROM) arriving at the "Press Enter to install now" screen results in the keyboard locking up and hence i cannot proceed. I have noticed in all versions of MS Server products i have used that just prior to arriving at this screen a whole load of H/W drivers are loaded. I have tried numerous keyboards. The server has PS2 ports for KB and mouse only. IDE Hard disk, a SCSI set, and a SCSI CDROM. I also tried XP-Pro and the same thing happened. Can anyone suggest why this is happening or a way around it. In advance, thanks.

Is your keyboard a ps2 and NOT a USB with converter to ps2?
Was it a running setup BEFORE you got it? |

All the keyboards i have tried have been PS2.
It was a production server that has been running NT4.0, and then Windows 2000 Server for a corp. Keyboard and mouse work fine in BIOS etc, just when trying to install a new O/S it locks at the welcome screen. |

Resolved
Problem Solved.
Was a crack at the PS2 connector on the mainboard. Have soldered to reinforce the connection. Keyboards now work, 2000 Server installed and running. Thankyou for your help. |
