Refitting H/D after New Motherboard

I was just wondering whats the best way to go about refitting a H/D containing XP Pro after a M/B replacement. I know with Win98 you could do the enum trick but what about XP. reading a tech mag suggested first uninstalling all the chipset drivers followed by the graphic drivers and finally changing the IDE controller to the standard Microsoft driver as if you don't do the last thing you will get a stop error. Finally switching off the PC installing new M/B and rebooting, making sure you install the chipset drivers before the graphic card drivers. What are your views on this?

You can remove EVERYTHING in device manager aswell as in ADD/REMOVE programs for software. Then you shutdown the computer. Put in a new motherboard. Then you do a repair install of XP. You boot into XP. Install 1 driver at a time when it asks you when you boot into XP.

Here is the link to what I am talking about. This also works with Windows XP.
