I have win98se and win xp pro on my machine. I have 98 on my c: drive which is a wd 120g drive. Xp is installed on f: my two 80g drives in raid0. My problem is after formatting the c: drive, and installing 98se, it no longer askes if i want to boot 98 or xp. Bios was setup to boot from hdd0, which is my c: drive. So when changing it to boot from scsi, it cant find an os.
How do I go about getting xp to boot without formatting and installing xp again? I have like 2000 aac files that i spent a considerable amount of time creating that i would like to keep. I cant transfer the files onto my 98 drive because 98 doesnt recognize the two drives. The raid card is installed and recognized, but only the c: drive shows up in my computer. Msdos doesnt recognize anything but the c: drive. Not even the opticals. If anyone can help as always it is appriciated! thanks |

The XP installation put a boot manager on the C drive that you formatted away. Pretty sure you have to get a third party boot manager. Can search this site for boot manager.

I belive all you need to do is a repaire install of xp, it will see the w98 and create a dual boot system menu for start-up
the reason this happened to you is that w98 must be installed before xp is installed, you can't do it the other way. |
