Gdi32.dll Error

hi there ive got winme installed on my pc and if i leave the pc on for say 3 hours or more without me doing anything the GDI32.DLL error message comes up and causes the system to freeze, its a problem as if i try and shut down the pc the error keeps popping up and i have to shut down the pc by pressing the on/off button, what would be the best way to sort this out, reinstall me or delete the gdi32.dll and extract it from the cabs file and reinstall it to c:windows/system
thanks
