Hi,
Thanks for your reply, and sorry for my delay in answering you back. No I do not have changed any settings to view hidden files. I thought I should be able to see some files of some sort. The reason behind my asking the question in the first place is, I have had problems with my Canon USB Printer. For 8 month I had no problems printing from either 98SE or XP USB1.1 then all of a sudden I could only print from XP and I would get a message that Windows could not find the USB printer port in 98. So in short I played around trying to fix the problem and at the USB community website I found a unofficial 98 update SP1.5 I downloaded and installed and that was the end of my Windows 98SE at the moment I am trying to find my Favourites in 98 to back them up before what appears a reinstall of Windows 98. I also don’t know what will happen to my XP setup whether I have to reinstall that too after reinstalling 98 as the XP boot is as I believe in 98 for the dual boot. At this point of time XP Pro is running fine, but I would like to have 98SE back again as well. Thanks Hawk22 |

Just had a look and no "Show Hidden Files " is not selected, is it a good idea to have it selected?
thanks hawk22 |

I don't think that setting has anything to do with it. If I understand you correctly, the drive letters seem to be different in XP and W98, right ? XP can change any drive letter except the drive where XP itself was installed. If you want to get a particular drive letter, first change the drive letter of the partition that already has that drive letter to something else, then it's free to be used.

No, my drive letters in 98 are C-D-and E, XP Pro is on F and XP is seeing them the same C-D-E.
I have successfully backed up My Documents from C: to E: and all the Programs on D: are there plus some stuff on C: but the Windows Folder on C: is empty. hawk22 |

If you can still boot W98, then XP is hiding the files. This is probably not the hidden files option that Force Flow mentioned, it's probably more something like "Hide protected operating system files", clear it. You'll find it in the same dialog as the "Show Hidden Files" option, and you may want to enable that too to be sure. I hate how Windows plays hide and seek with your files.
