Drive Letting in windows XP
Ok, I am in a bit of a situation
In my server computer, win XP Pro I have 3 hard drives and a DVD drive. C Drive is 160 GB Maxtor D Drive is 30 GB IBM E Drive is my DVD drive F Drive is my Server Storage 200 GB WDC. I need to remove my D Drive but I want to keep the same Drive Letters on the other drives. Is that possible? Reason is I have some of my server programs installed on my F drive and don't want to have to change those. I know in win 98 tweakUI I could disable the drive letter D and it would work but is there an option like that WIN XP PRO?

Hi
Quote:
So, you just remove the D: drive, the rest will stay the same. No tweaks required ![]() For example, my hard drives are called C:, D: (data), and V: for Video. My Plextor DVD-ROM is P:, and my HP DVD writer is H: Clone CD's Emulator is E: If for any reason the drive letters do change, you can just set them back to what they should be. For this, rightclick on "My Computer", select "Manage", select "Disk Management" on the lower left, and on the right side you can see all your drives. Right click on the drive/partition whose letter you wanna change, choose "Change Drive Letter and Path" (or similar), and there you can set the letter you want. Works for every drive except the system drive. RJ

Well that is simple. I will do that tonight. I want to use the 30 GB drive in a Linux Box I am putting together.
