Cool Win XP SP2 Question

I have searched the forums to save a post but didn't see my exact question, unless I'm blind so if so sorry Anyways, I have heard nothing but nightmare stories about the SP2 update so I have been avoiding it like the plague. I'm using a popup blocker, quality antivirus, a hardware firewall and a software firewall. Is there any reason to update my system if all is well for fear of seeing everything get messed up? I understand there is an "uninstallatiion" feature with SP2....yea right! I'm sure everything will revert back just fine...heard that one before. Anyways, what do ya think, skip it with the old philosophy of, "if it aint broke don't fix it" or give it a shot. I'm pretty computer savy so I should be able to pull enough hair out to get it up and running. My biggest fear is of corrupting my Quicken 2003...my lifes budgeting is in that program, and I would be a little disgruntled!

Thanks,
KJ

Make a *complete* backup of the HDD, either on CD's/DVD's or ghost the drive if possible. Then if you don't like it, wipe it clean and restore the backup. That's the safest bet out there. As for me, I'd recommend it, haven't had any problems myself.

Back up up your Qucking data (you should be doing this already if your life's budgeting is in there). Ghost your drive if possible. You won't have anything to worry about then. I put SP2 on two machines with no problems on either of them.

The only thing I have heard of so far that could cause you problems is if you have spyware or adware or similar on the computer before you install the SP. Both my son (scomac) and I have put SP2 in with no trouble but we did full scans for everything first.
