Question XP Pro goes into Standby unexpectedly

Wondering if this is an XP problem or a symptom of hardware failure. Just recently our PC started going into Standby...it's not set to go into standby, I checked all the settings and only the monitor was set for standby after 20 minutes idle. All else was set to Never.

I ran Norton Virus scan, spybot S&D, spysweeper...no results. Any other suggestions?

You might also want to check out the bios power settings. When you talk about standby, does it really go in a complete standby ? I mean, does it save everything to the hard disk (can take quite a few seconds), and is it possible to resume after a key press ? Or is it simply crashing ?

One last thing I should mention, I've had a lot of problems in the past with keyboards that included extra keys for power down, standby etc. The problem was that Windows never asked for confirmation if these keys were accidentally pressed (they were just above the keypad) and just did the shutdown/standby. Do you have such keys on your keyboard ?

Is the computer going to standby when idle or while using? Have you checked your BIOS settings? some BIOS' have standby options.
