XP doesn't boot anymore after installing 2000
Hello,
I hope I can find someone here who can help me. Let me explain in detail what I did. I had XP installed on my harddisk (40Giga). Then I used partitionmagic to split make the current partition smaller (30Giga). I then created 4 floppy disks from the Windows 2000 CD to install windows 2000 onto this free space. I had to use the disks because the CD would not boot. The installation went well. When it started it asked me where to install and I choose the unformatted free 10 Gig. After the installation of Windows 2000 (which my girlfriend needed), there appeared the bootup choice between XP and 2000 (30 seconds delay). Windows 2000 was the default. I booted 2000 and then changed the default boot to XP and changed the delay to 10 seconds. When I later tried to boot XP, all I got was a black screen. So right after the boot-choice everything became black and I don't know what happened. CTRL-ALT-DELETE rebooted the PC. What can I do to rescue XP without destroying 2000 and more importantly what went wrong??? Hope my explanation is clear. Kind regards Peter (Belgium) |

Post the contents of the boot.ini file here and perhaps we could find the error. Quote:
