Outlook Express Woes

I'm having 2 problems related to Outlook Express:

- I can't open mail links by clicking on the address. I used to get an error message (can't remember what it was) but now nothing happens.

- My spell check won't work. Always get "An error occurred while the spelling was being checked". If you saw my spelling you'd realize what a major issue this is.

I'm running XP Home. Any ideas?

Thanks for answering. I tried those steps for the spellcheck but it still isn't working. When "Check spelling before sending" is checked, I get a "Spellcheck was halted. Do you want to send anyway?" message. If I try to check spelling while I'm typing a message, it says "Error while checking spelling". How vexing
