Question Video Display

I run 98SE on my HP desktop. I was fiddling around with setup and I chose AGP as the graphics display instead of what was originally SCI and this has resulted in no display on my monitor. I have no idea how to set this back to SCI. I would appreciate a solution.

Can you give a few more details on what you were 'setting up'? I think you mean PCI, versus SCI don't you? Most older HP's didn't come with an AGP port and if you were going to add a video card you had to put in a PCI card. This is how my HP is. I figure yours is as well. There is a set procedure that you need to go thru to change the video card from the onboard to a stand alone card. You can search HP's site for the info.

Like scomac mentions, the details would be on the hp support site - just select your model from the list & you'll have all the details you'll ever need.

My guess is that actually all you need to do is retrace your steps & undo the wrong setting. If this is an older HP Brio, you probably enter Setup by pressing F2, the HP Pavilions generally use F1 = at any rate, you'll see it displayed in a banner message when you power up your HP [& since you're probably staring at a blank screen at the moment, you'll have to press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice (or press your hard-reset button) to force a reboot --- as soon as you see either the HP logo or a POST screen with device info, start pressing the key in the "Press F1 (F2, DEL, whatever) to Enter Setup" banner -- then set your Primary Video back to PCI.

P.S. . . . noticed that this is your first post here. Welcome to the PC Mechanic forums!

[P.S. #2 - I suppose I should mention one more thing: if you konked more settings than just the display setting, you may want to let the HP load the Defaults... You can look for an item in the menus "Load Defaults & Exit" - this can help get it working until you look up detailed settings on the hp site]
