NTVDM problem in Windows XP

While trying to update a firmware for my CDRW. When I try to run the file, I come up with this response.

NTVDM.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Does anyone have any clue how I fix this?

Try this link and see if it helps. Also Google search NTVDM and you will get a lot of responses. http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;817901
