win2k network spoofing or weidities

Is weirdities a word?Oh well...

Have a Win 2000 member server and clients running win2k.Created a workgroup for users to logon locally with no Domain..network connected to a dsl modem and a router.Machines use static IP's internally...what is the best way or what log files would I access to see if the network has been comprimised?NTFS file system.....

Problem is machines do not keep the user accounts after a shutdown and a whole program has gone missing...hmmmm checked for viruses..an trojans..none apparent...??Ideas?
